In a time when our nation faces deep economic crisis, when those of us in the “free world” struggle daily to survive, one question continues to weigh heavily on my heart: if life is this difficult for us outside, what becomes of our brothers and sisters inside the prison walls?

Today under the umbrella of the Association of models in Nigeria, I Deji Bakare (Mr Nigeria 2011) humbly present a humanitarian initiative titled ” HOPE BEYOND WALLS” a mission to bring encouragement, dignity and love to inmates across Nigeria.

Many of these individuals are people’s children, fathers, mothers and youths. Some made mistakes, some fell into the wrong company. Many desire change but lacks support, opportunity and hope. The bible clearly instructs us in Hebrew 13:3: ” continue to remember those in prison as if you were together in chains”

This is not just a project, this is a calling.

Why this initiative ?

1. Because hardship is real: if the govt is struggling to meet the needs of the citizens outside prison, the those inside faces even greater neglect, lacking basic essentials like toiletries, clothing, food, medicine and emotional support.

2. Because humanity demands it: inmates are not condemned souls, they are Nigerians with potentials, gifted with dreams, capable of greatness if shown love and direction.

3. Because history as proven it: some of the worlds greatest leaders once lived behind bars, Nelson Mandela, Olushegun Obasanjo and many others who emerged from confinement with renewed purpose, becoming symbols of freedom, leadership and national transformation.

If they could rise so can many of our inmates today, if only we invest love and hope in them.

A call to the entertainment and creative industry.

I am calling to all my colleagues, models, entertainers, influencers and all celebrities who have been blessed with influence and opportunity traveling the world, representing Nigeria with pride.

This is the time to stand together , this is the moment to give back. We did it before and we can do it again.

This movement was originally funded by Lamborghini and supported by top celebrities like Lida Bakare, Aki & Pawpaw and many others who showed the nation what true compassion looks like. Now we rise again with continuity, stronger, bigger and more determined.

What we need from the public

No toking is too small, we are accepting clothing, toiletries, food items, medicines, financial support, partnership, professional services and volunteer time. Every act of kindness is a seed of hope.

Our belief:

I strongly believe this mission will add value to Nigeria, restore dignity to forgotten souls, and inspire a new generation of reformed individuals who will one day contribute meaningfully to our country.

As we approach a new year, let us show love, give hope and remind every inmate that they are not invisible and not forgotten.
